Materials Specialist

New opportunities to join our team! Currently Celina Tent is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time Materials Specialist position working from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM within the Production Department. Reporting to the Supervisor with direction from the Purchasing Coordinator, the Materials Coordinator will complete the responsibilities of the position found below.

A typical day might include the following that you should be good at:

Mandatory Production Timeline Responsibilities:

  • Investigates inventory discrepancies and fixes root cause

  • Loads and unloads Box truck based on production demand daily.

  • Maintains cleanliness of Zund Materials Area

  • Address all non-conformance material within 24 hours with quality manager.

  • Performs Inventory cycle counts weekly on Celina store

  • Collect certificate of compliance documents and forward to appropriate location for electronic storage within 48 hours of receiving parts requiring a CoC.

  • Follows up daily on critical shortage items with purchasing

  • Identify and report all material scrap and makes suggestions to improve weekly

  • Stock and organize roll goods behind the cutting and multi-sealer daily to ensure zero material stock outs

  • Work with purchasing to update the critical materials status board weekly

  • Manage rolled goods inventory in Celina sew shop and warehouse daily

  • Manage outsource components daily process to ensure correct products in adequate supply are always available depending on workloads.

Other Duties include:

  • Manage dumpster to verify scrap is being reported and addressed correctly

  • Identify BOM inaccuracies and relays information to D3 and D4

  • Work with purchasing, production, and engineering to resolve vendor related material issues

  • Perform material testing and manage data when required

  • Continually work to improve material flow via feedback from other departments

  • Use good practice techniques including scales for counting, etc.

  • Monitor products to notify quality of issues that arise

  • Ensures proper lot rotation

  • Other duties, as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High School degree, or equivalent, 1-3 years of related-work experience

  • Proficient with computers, particularly working with Microsoft Office

  • Operation of various fork trucks, stock pickers, etc. Must be able to obtain certification and operate equipment safely

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs. on your own regularly – both lateral and overhead

  • Problem Solving & Decision Making: Able to use logic and methods to solve problems with effective solutions

  • Attention to detail, organized, and highly self-motivated with a teamwork attitude is a must

  • Demonstrates strong listening, written and oral communication skills

  • Be adaptable and dependable

  • Ability to follow directions, possess good judgment, strong work ethic, and common sense

  • Must be willing and able to adhere to formal work procedures and structured work practices

  • Positive attitude


9:00 AM – 5:00 PM with overtime when needed, must be able to work overtime and respond to other shifts needs
